God Is in Pursuit of You
Have you ever stopped to think—wow—the One who created the heavens and the earth, the birds in the sky, the creatures of the sea, and all the animals that roam the land… He also chose to create me and you.
Not only did He create you, but He is actively pursuing you.
Whoa.
What Is It to Be Pursued?
God has been in pursuit of His creation from the very beginning of time.
In the book of Genesis, after Adam and Eve sinned and ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil (Genesis 3:1–7), the Scriptures say:
“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the LORD God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the LORD God among the trees of the garden.”
And while they were hiding in the garden God calls out to the man saying, “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9).
God knew exactly where they were and what they had done—He is omniscient. And yet, He still called out to them. Why?
Because He was deliberately asking a question to draw them out of hiding and prompt a response. This isn’t just a one time moment; this pattern continues throughout Scripture and in our own lives.
God, despite our mistakes, pursues us. And in His pursuit, He often prompts our hearts—to stir something in us.
God Pursues Us Despite Our Sin
In Luke 15, Jesus is surrounded by tax collectors and sinners— these are people the religious leaders looked down on. The Pharisees and teachers of the law mutter to each other:
“This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”
In response, Jesus tells a parable:
“Suppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesn’t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it? And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, ‘Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.’”“I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” (Luke 15:1–7)
This story reveals something powerful about God’s pursuit of the lost: Jesus—our Good Shepherd (John 10) — leaves the ninety-nine to pursue the one. And that one? It’s you. It’s me.
He’s not passively hoping you return. He’s actively seeking you out, calling you by name, and inviting you to step out of darkness and into His marvelous light.

He Is Still Pursuing You
Whether you’ve never given your life to Jesus, or you’re a long-time follower who’s found yourself in a season of hiding or drifting—this truth remains:
God is still pursuing your heart.
When I reflect on the things God has brought me out of, my heart can't help but be overwhelmed by the beauty of the Lord.
The One who made the sunsets and the sunrises… The One who dressed the fields with wildflowers and color… The One who spoke life into existence… He pursued me. And He continues to do so.
There have been times when I have felt ashamed and distant from God. But even in my struggles and in my rebellion, I began to feel Him gently calling my name. Not with condemnation, but with compassion.
It wasn’t always loud, but it was constant.
His grace covers a multitude of sins. His kindness and mercy draws us in. You are not rejected by him. He wants you.
So What Now?
Let this truth settle in your heart: God is in pursuit of you.
“Where are you?” - Genesis 3
Maybe He’s asking you that question right now—not because He doesn’t know, but because He wants you to know. He is ready to meet you where you are.
Take a quiet moment and reflect. Do not rush this. Let him speak.
Ask yourself: What parts of me have been hiding? Where have I wandered?
And if this isn't you right now Praise God!
May we walk in pursuing him back. We won't do it perfectly. But let’s not use that as an excuse to stop trying. When we pursue him we will become more like him and In that pursuit there will be pruning, but this is to bring about holiness (Hebrews 12).
God is in pursuit of your heart beloved. May we pursue him back.
